The Tracker, a convenient tool to track your diet, is based on the USDA's Food Guide Pyramid and adapted for women in the different phases of pregnancy, to ensure that necessary nutrients needed before, during, and after pregnancy are consumed. It includes the recommended number of servings from each of the food groups. When a serving from a specific food group is consumed, you simply cross off the food symbol corresponding to that particular food group with The Tracker's wet/erase pen.
The Tracker allows you to track what you are eating on both a daily and weekly basis by offering a 7-day visual schedule . This helps you to realize areas where your diet may be exceeding or lacking in a particular food group. You can then use this information as a guide to your future meal and snack planning.
For example, The Tracker shows that pregnant women should strive for 3 servings of fruit per day. Throughout the course of the day, you realize that you have not checked off any fruit servings for that day. You may then decide to add a serving of fruit salad to your dinner menu.
